The YMCA fosters a love of the water in beginners and experienced swimmers alike. Swimming is a life skill as well as great exercise and a challenging sport. The goal of the YMCA’s Aquatics Department is to provide a positive aquatic experience. All year, the Y offers group and private swim lessons for all ages (for infants through adults), a swim team for the more competitive swimmer, and lifeguard and additional certification courses for those who want to lead the community in being safe.
We help build self-esteem through accomplishments, develop an awareness of safety through the practice of skills, and instill the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. All of our youth programs are progressive, building upon basic skills and progressing toward mastery of techniques, and eventually toward other aspects of aquatics and the potential for lifelong involvements in aquatic programs.
