ANNUAL SUMMER RECESS

2024 Dates: Saturday, August 17-Monday, September 2

 

 

Our commitment to our members is to provide the best experience and during the two-week Summer Recess, over $600K was invested into the West Cook YMCA’s most critical infrastructure, our facility. Vendors and Staff completed 250 projects to ensure a safe and welcoming built environment to improve your member experience.

The projects completed include:

  • Replaced the hot water heater
  • Updated pool mechanical system
  • Installed LED lights in the gyms and across the 1st floor
  • Demoed the whirlpool areas to prepare for new space
  • Resurfaced wood floors and painted in the gyms and racquetball courts
  • Installed new ceiling tiles
  • Completed routine maintenance, deep cleaning, and painting of the facility
  • Preventative maintenance on all wellness center equipment

Projects to be completed by the end of 2024:

  • Replace the main chiller that serves the facility’s A/C
  • Install the remaining LED lights throughout the member facility

Projects being explored:

  • Replacing freight elevator
  • Upgrading residence rooms
  • Revamping the steam rooms

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SUMMER RECESS:

Lockers

Members are asked to clear out lockers and remove locks prior to the Summer Recess. Locks that are left will be removed. In addition, personal items that are not removed will be stored for 30 days. After October 1st all items will be donated to local charity.

Registration During Summer Recess

Our Member Engagement Staff will be available to assist members during Summer Recess with program registration either at the Member Engagement Front Desk or via telephone at 708 383.5200
